About Lazy Susan String Band
Lazy Susan String Band is an upbeat trio of women playing a variety of thoughtfully chosen old time songs and tunes from the late 1800s to early 1900s. Their music aims to uplift important themes, share less-told stories, and keep the tradition of musical storytelling alive. This group of accomplished musicians, music educators, and songwriters enjoys sharing music for you to tap your feet, laugh, and clap along.
Meet the Lazy Susans
Allie Jean picked up a fiddle in 2016 while living in the Smoky Mountains and became completely obsessed. Also a banjo and guitar player, she integrates rhythm seamlessly into her bowing. She has studied fiddle with John Engle, Adam Tanner, Earl White, Rayna Gellert, and Rhys Jones.
With her fiddle in hand, Allie also leads old time jams, plays for square dances, and organizes teaching events for old time music.
Allie's other musical projects include Upper Low Gap (a square dance band), The Whipstitch Sallies (Americana/bluegrass), and solo work. Find her album BLOOM AGAIN on all streaming platforms.

Kristin Thompson fell in love with music so hard that she owned an acoustic music store for nine years in Nashville, IN.
At Weedpatch Music, Kristin maintained a varied inventory of cool folky instruments, taught lessons, and hosted workshops. Her store became a gathering place and hub for folk, bluegrass, and old time musicians in Brown County and beyond.
Kristin studied clawhammer banjo with Brad Leftwich. She also plays guitar, mandolin, and pretty much anything with strings. She volunteers with Girls Rock and teaches kindergarten in Bloomington, IN.
Born in Yorkshire England, Jan Bell splits her time between Brooklyn NY and Nashville IN. Credits include festival stages from Grey Fox to Glastonbury; The Woody Guthrie Archives to The Waldorf Astoria; Independent Music Awards Best Americana Album ‘Songs for Love Drunk Sinners’; and Best Concept Album 'Dream of the Miner's Child' - dedicated to her Grandfather.
Her Brooklyn-based band The Maybelles began as a duo with Melissa Carper in The Ozarks and opened for icons such as Odetta, Emmylou Harris, and Wanda Jackson. As a solo artist, Jan Bell has supported Rosanne Cash, Steve Earle, Sierra Ferrell, and Jolie Holland.
